Get to know The Eastern Sea & Sun Hotel
This is a video for The Eastern Sea's song "The Snow" off their first EP. This Austin, Texan band has created [honestly] one of my favorite songs ever and I'm so excited to play with them again
...and these dudes:
This is a track from Sun Hotel's debut album "Coast" which they will be releasing on September 24th at One Eyed Jacks with The Eastern Sea (on tour!) and my band, Caddywhompus.
AntiGravity presents the show.

Remainder now on iTunes
Our most recent album, Remainder (released by New Orleans' own Community Records) is now available for download on iTunes.
Yes, there are many free versions of the album online, but here's another option.
It's 8 bucks and the support would make us blush.
We have some new material that we can't wait to show you guys (we played three new, unreleased songs on our recent visit to SugarHill studios in Houston).
It's back to school for us and back to writing, so stick with us.
And thanks again to everyone who helped us out, played with us, or just wished us well on our tour this summer. It definitely was the biggest thing we've ever done and by far the toughest, but it was also incredibly rewarding. We couldn't have imagined spending our summer time any other way.
THANK YOU.
Oh and get to know The Eastern Sea if you know what's good for you.
They're currently touring all over the midwest and east coast and will be playing with us and Sun Hotel at One Eyed Jacks on the 24th of this month.
We all love their music and if you just gave them a chance I'm sure you will too.

Live from Sugarhill Studios
Live From SugarHill Studios - Episode 21 from W. Ross Wells on Vimeo.
A while back, we went over to our beloved SugarHill Studios in Houston and recorded a live set for the Live from SugarHill Sessions.
Joining us in the studio that day was our good friends: the Young Mammals. They played first and ruled.
We played second and my voice was gone, but we felt good with the outcome.
These are all new, unreleased songs (except for Guilt) and we hope you dig em.
The audio drops out right as our interview starts, and if I remember correctly, that's for the better.
We love you Houston.
We love you SugarHill.
We love you John Griffin.
Stick with us.
We've got stuff to do yet.

Homecoming Show/Tour Recap
So we're about to be back in new orleans (our gps says our eta is 5:37pm) and that means our summer tour that consisted of 40 shows covering most of the continental US, is coming to an end. We have a homecoming show coming up in New Orleans on the 28th with Summer Blondes (met them in Oakland. So amazing) and Twin Killers (we met two of the dudes in this band at one our first shows in Baton Rouge ever and their music is fckng insane, in most definitely the best sense of the phrase). The info's all on the flyer. Hope to see our Nola homies there.
My apologies for not blogging after Devin headed back home. Here are some highlights from the trip, post-St. Louis:
<>Much beer was drank.
<>Many faces were melted.
<>Many girls (and a few sexy monkeys) were impregnated.
<>Sean shaved everything on his face but a creepy mustache.
<>Recorded three new songs in Steve Buscemi's basement.
<>Summered for a week in New York.
<>Two girls told Sean that they "wanted to fuck your brains out".
<>One bet he "fucked like a beast".
<>Slammed a 30 brick with two other homies in Muncie, IN.
<>I fractured my foot and acquired a boot from one of the aforementioned "homies".
<>Partied with Jean-Eric in Philly on 4th of July.
<>Fractured my foot worse late that night in Philly while dancing to Big Moe.
<>Bender apologized to Sean for beating him up physically and emotionally.
<>Paid $20+ at at least 5 tollbooths.
<>Ate real Buffalo wings and I choked on the fumes before I even bit into it.
<>Met a girl named Butterfly and her pet fox.
<>Held a fox.
<>Went to the Boston Aquarium.
<>My brother's ID (expired in 2006, says I'm 6'0" and have hazel eyes) worked numerous times.
<>Bought an inch of muenster even though the dude said I couldn't order by the inch ("cheese by pound, only dick in inches").
<>Danced my ass off in a bar in New York while sporting my rad boot.
<>Sean stayed up until 2pm in Harrisonburg, VA with Richard from Maps and Atlases and got caught stealing ziplocs while completely wasted in James Madison University at approximately 6am.
<>I showed up a new friend who claimed to rule at hula-hooping. NO. I RULE.
<>I read four chapters of "Into the Wild" while driving.
<>Accidentally started driving to Boone, NC instead of to Wilmington, NC for a while.
<>Miraculously met up with Dongles in Boone, NC.
We met so many amazing/hospitable/helpful/generous bands and individuals that we are incredibly thankful for and indebted to for being slices of heaven on earth.
We are so lucky and glad to know and have met such great people while on the road. We can't do it without all of you.
We love touring and will do it again soon.

Day 9 - St. Louis, MO
My last day with the dudes, but it was so awesome.
We got there early for a radio station session where they recorded 4 songs live and had an interview while I watched team USA tragically fall in OT to Ghana on my laptop.
We hung out with the members of Spelling Bee, who were so so nice and treated us to a potluck dinner and showed us their awesome Anime collection and in-house arcade.
The venue was one of the coolest places I've been to, a huge colorful art-filled warehouse on a hill overlooking the river.
The show was even better, all the kids there knew how to have fun and Chris and Sean gave it 100%.
Not to mention, free popsicles were distributed to all.
Then that was it, I left at 1am'ish (unfortunately missing Spelling Bee 3), and headed to the Greyhound station to catch my bus back to N.O.
Yea, it left at 3am and I got home at 8pm.
Yuck.
It was worth it!
luv you guys

Day 8 - Carbondale, IL
Illinoize.
We rolled out of Nashville pretty early. Stopped for some foods, Chris got some strings, etc. We got to Carbondale and a had a little trouble finding the place, we went to the "wrong" house a few times. But, once we settled in it was an easy chill sesh on the porch with the awesome friends who lived there for a few hours while we waited for the night to get started.
Caddy hit it second of the bands and hit it hard. The show was again very sweaty, sensual, intimate, rockin'. Our good budsfrom H-Town, also on tour, Female Demand, tore it up next. The good response and party meter with both sets was pretty high.
Afterwards it was a relatively long night before it all died down and we broke out the pull-out beds from the sofas. I made the mistake of calling the leather sofa, that I stuck to violently all night. It would be my last night of sleep with the Caddy crew on tour.
I wept as I slept.
however, the next day really ruled! (St. Louis)

Day 7 - Nashville, TN
Fun friends, 2 40's, no A/C, pool afterwards.
Woke up next to Ophelia the curious cat by Sean's drums on the apartment floor back in Tuscaloosa at around noon. We gathered up and left asap.
We got there relatively early, and after checking in with the venue, roamed around downtown for a bit. Skated, cruised, ate some ice cream, etc. Neat lil' place.
Now, I had been to Little Hamilton before with Sun Hotel back in March. This was a whole different ballgame now. If you'd like to see the comparison between then and now, check out our video from then.
Anyway, basically, the place looked way nicer now, was run pretty well, and seemed to be where all the cool kids hung out. The Caddy crew had a nice spot of second-to-last, and after a duo of 40's for everyone (hence some shotty camera work, sorry), we all got down pretty hard. Extremely sweaty, but very successful and fun show.
Afterwards we were so kindly invited to hang out and swim at one of our new friend's pools, which was much needed and refreshing. Then, headed back to another friend's pad for dreams on couches.

Day 6 - Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, AL
House show double-feature!
The day began slow. I woke up with my set alarm at 8am to watch a live-chat feed of the USA - Algeria game. Thrilling.
After that me and Sean read some books and watched everyone else slowly wake up. We got out on the road at about 1pm.
We got the the Birmingham house right on time, at about 6pm and set up to play first at 7. Not gonna lie, it felt pretty weird. Maybe it was the early slow, maybe the small room, or the stagnant crowd, or maybe the guy rolling on the ground touching himself asking every girl for their number.
Anyway, our friends who came from Tuscaloosa just to see Caddy got there just as the set ended, so it was decided to come back to their place and just play a show there.
Bold move. But it payed off. The party was surprisingly bumpin', the kids were cool, the place was fun. After some mac n cheese, beat boxing, and all around additional ruckus, we promptly passed out on the floor while Chris serenaded us with "Flint" by Sufjan Stevens.
still kickin'

Day 5 - Hattiesburg, MS
"I don't like my shit fucked up girl. I don't like my shiiiit fucked."
fun night at a familiar place in MS with Jean-Eric.
Finally headed up north for real. We left at around 5:30pm for the Burg, got there right on time and were greeted with delightful sandwiches so graciously by our buddy Brad at the Thirsty Hippo. A familiar spot for Caddy, this was their third time playing there.
I'd be lying if I said that our anticipation of the show's success was bright for most of the night. from 7 until 10:30 it appeared as if we and the members of Jean-Eric might be the only attendees for the night.
However, Brad told us to have faith, and wait till 11 to play. We did. Alas, seemingly instantly right before 11 o'clock, a sizeble crowd showed up. Not just regulars, but true Caddywhompus fans who had been here before and came back for the good time.
Jean-Eric got the party started right then and never let it die. I love this band. Don't know what else to say. They rule and party hard always.
Caddy then carried on with their set and in the words of Chris Rehm himself it was, "probably the best show we've played in a while". Profound, and true, it was artful.
Us 3 along with all of our best buddies in Jean-Eric stayed the night in the upstairs apartment of the venue, which was exceedingly spacious and awesome, apart from a small concentrated amount of A.C. that we all huddled/drunkely sprawled around through the night.
tour is all super fun so far

Day 4 - New Orleans, LA 2
Generator show in a broken down building by the river.
We didn't know exactly where this was going to be held, I had to call a phone number with a pre-recorded message with loose directions, then meet up and scope around until we found an open area to wait for the hosts to arrive and show us where to go.
It was a pretty cool area, though. Mega-graffitti'ed, broken down industrial, empty, sketchy, awesome.
We showed up at 8, waited around till 9, loaded the gear in and got the generator running and such with lights and the amps, then waited for kids to show up and the music started at about 10:30.
After one first act that I unfortunately missed because I was on a beer run, Caddy did business. The setting was pretty awesome, I think. Many boys and girls started climbing the broken roof in the back and watched from up high, the rest made a pretty wide semi-circle around the lights and band. It felt right.
Sadly, a few minutes after their set, we heard the sirens and megaphones and had to bail out cause the po diggits were there.
Just as that party was gettin' rowdy.
Oh well.
We're headed out up to Hattiesburg today, sendin' all my lovin'.

Day 3 - New Orleans, LA
Back on home-turf for a sick show with all our frens.
Father's Day. We woke up all sprawled out on the apartment floor in Lafayette at around noon, me and Chris were huddled up sharing a 5ft blanket and when we checked the thermostat we saw "60". I also recall him trying to steal Sean's sleeping bag in the middle of the night right out from under him, which worked for about 30 minutes. Anyway, we headed out asap to N.O.
I had to show up to the show late because of family dinner and things, so unfortunately once again I don't have too much revealing footage, and more unfortunately I missed B L A C K I E's set. If you saw yesterday's vid, you know he wrecks hard and it's a sad thing to miss.
I got there in the middle of Limb's set, who were tearing it up pretty hard again. That clip of them I used in the vid is some serious breakdown S.
Chris and Sean did their thang next, and I was happy with finding a couple really cool angles from the back wall to film. Chris's guitar exploded during one of the early songs and he had to use the other band's guitar after, but other than that it was a pretty sick set.
Last for the night was long time New Orleans power-ska-wrecking crew Fatter Than Albert, who got the pit rolling and churning routinely. The temperature of the room literally rose about 10 degrees during the set, and the floor literally had to be mopped up afterwards.
We split off for the night cause I have to pack up to leave n such, we'll be in New Orleans again tonight playing a warehouse show with a generator, then leaving Tuesday for real.
awww yea

Day 2 - Lafayette, LA
Hey friends, Devin here, tagging along with Caddywhompus and filming/helping out/chilling hard for a while on this tour.
I met up with the homeboys Chris and Sean a little late, so this video is a little short and is mainly just live clips of the show at Artmosphere, except for Chris shredding a bit on the skateboard outside and getting yelled at for having tight jeans by a passing party bus.
And that's basically how the first day of my days with the tour went.
Got to the place early on, hung out with Limb and B L A C K I E a bit (who both rule, if you didn't catch that from the video), owned Chris in a game of SKATE outside right before the show, partied up with a solid show, then threw down afterwards and ended up crashing all on the floor of our pal Ian's apartment at 5am.
Picture-esque tour start.
Anyway, I'll be updating like this and posting videos (probably more informative ones) hopefully every day for a while on this tour, hope you dig it!

Day 7 - Thousand Palms, CA (Sean's Crib)
After the LA jamz, we hit the road to Coachella (Thousand Palms, to be exact). We braved the wind and made it there just in time to get some pre-game in. We sipped on some dent-discounted beer ($0.50 each) and chatted about music and things that come along with that. The show itself went really well, despite the cops showing up midway through our set. We decided to move the show inside and the rager kept a-goin'. People got way effed up and friendships momentarily ended, but no wounds were too deep and most healed by the morning. Here's a video of us arriving and chilling in the backyard where half of our set went down.
We <3 Sean and we we <3 the desert.

The next day we drove in to LA and met up with our good friend Derek and we roamed around town before our show at The Kaos Network. We jammed hard for the small crowd that found themselves there on that particular night. The next day, this went down:

B/C R party
This Saturday, we're gonna be back in one of our favorite cities in the south: Baton Rouge. We'll be kicking it hard over there at the Spanish Moon with local crazies Monsters Will and Reset the Sun. It's been a while since we've been in the red sticky, and this one's got us way jacked.
There's been a little talk about us maybe releasing an album at this show, but we in fact are not. That bad boy's coming out on April 23rd in NOLA and then May 11th nationwide. This show however, we will be performing a few brand new songs that we have yet to play live.
Lezz dew it.

Remainder
Howdy ya'll.
We've got a new album coming out on May 11th (April 23rd in Nola).
It's called Remainder and here's the front cover:
Here are the songs on the album:
1 - Let the Water Hit the Floor
2 - Big Fun
3 - Guilt
4 - Balloon Knot
5 - At Bay
6 - Golden
7 - Congo Half-Mask
8 - Same Difference
Remainder will be released on Community Records. We love everything about these guys and can't be happier that we're working with them.
We're getting 12" vinyls pressed as well as hand-making some cds.
It will also be released digitally on Community Records' website for FREE. We love you all too.
We recorded and mixed this album ourselves and it was mastered by Raz Khandpur.
We'll be hitting the road this summer for over two months in support of this album.
Thanks so much to every one of you who has supported us through this past year and a half or so. We've loved every minute of it (except the times when our car broke down. That really sucked actually).
Stick with us to hear some previews of the album.
NEW ORLEANS! Get the album early at our record release PARTY on April 23rd at the Mother-in-Law Lounge (with: Brother / Ghost, Fatter Than Albert, and Sun Hotel)!
kisses,
chris
