Info's on the flyer, so take a second to examine it's contents, visit the facebook event page and then come out THIS FRIDAY to party it up with us, Mynameisjohnmichael, A Living Soundtrack, and Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.
We've got some new stuff up our sleevies (where generals keep their armies) and you know the other bands are gonna pull out all the stops for you guys. Because you're worth it. This will be our last show before Sean and I pack up the saddlebags and head back to Texas for the summer. Also all the show's proceeds will be donated to help put on Geronimo Festival in Lafayette this summer. MNIJM has an excellent description/explanation for the cause on their facebook event:
"What cause, you ask? Well theres this little shindig in Lafayette at the end of May called Geronimo Festival. It's gonna be boombastic, and several NOLA acts are travelling up there to play (MNIJM and Caddywhompus included). Proceeds of this Hi Ho show will go to toward the expenses of these poor travelling musicians. Can you hear the crying violins yet?"
You can download JFJO's new studio album, "Winterwood" for free HERE.

Our friends over in Gamma Ringo posted a link today on their Bandcamp page where fans can download 3 recent demo songs for free in exchange for signing up for their email mailing list. John St. Cyr said that the band plans on recording more demos and uploading them to the page, so check it often for new, loud, fun tunes from the group.
Above is the flyer for our nearest show. This event is taking place in our hometown, Houston, and will be with local favorite, Elaine Greer. It's an all-ages show at Mango's this Saturday at 9pm. Facebook event HERE. We're super excited about Mango's and what awesome things Omar will inevitably do.
We're super excited for this show this Monday at the High Ground. Get out there EARLY because doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7pm. Tera Melos are heros of ours and the other bands playing are some of our favorites in the area. Yes we know. The High Ground has a reputation for being extraordinarily lame, but Tera Melos will add a few points in the right direction, we think. Also playing is All That Is Left of Our Heros and Thier Flaming Hearts.
Facebook event HERE.

Sorry we haven't blogged about much recently. My paper took over my life this past week whenever I wasn't sleeping, eating, or playing shows. Anyways, I just stumbled across this picture of me and the City Life crew at the one and only practice I attended in preparation for my big break at their last show. That's right. It was for that historical moment when i joined the marvelous group onstage to sing Freddy Mercury's part in Under Pressure.
It was super dope. And I was super scared, having not really known the song well the day before the show.
I was worried it might sound/look like this with me thrown in the mix:

Other than the FANTASTIC Mojo Method EP, I (now "we") haven't blogged much about music we've been listening to. Reasoning for that aside, I recently discovered this amazing band out of Fort Collins, Colorado called Candy Claws. They recently released a full length album called "In the Dream of the Sea Life" and it is some of the most wonderful music I've heard in a long time. Its blissed-out underwater pop sounds bubble with beautiful melodies, brilliant songwriting and fantastically interesting production that shines all the way from their sun, through their water and then illuminates to their ocean floor, revealing new beauties to discover upon every voyage. This band deserves so much recognition for this great piece of art they have created. As far as I can tell, they are a part of a college-aged music/art community in Fort Collins and their visual work can be seen here. On the sidebar of their blog, they have a list of the bands involved in the community and I am looking forward to exploring them all. Admittedly, I found out about this band via a link on a blog I visited that posted a zip file of the album for free. However, I have already purchased the physical copy (I guess that's one example of how music theft "piracy" works out for bands) and can't wait to receive it.
This is what they had to say about their recent record:
Recorded in Italy, Fort Collins, and the Philippines over the past two years.
The album is a musical companion to Rachel Carson's 1951 book, "The Sea Around Us."
The 10-song cd comes packaged in a full-color dvd case, complete with a 12-page art booklet, a sticker, and a handmade art print.
If you'd like a copy, and trust us enough, send $10 and your address to:
3307 Downing Court
Fort Collins, CO
Also, on their myspace, they have a link to purchase the album via PayPal.
I don't know why I feel the need to share this music with you, but I do. Hopefully you will do the same.
They also have their first album up for a free download HERE. This record still portrays a wonderful pop feel and the production is very interesting, but it involves no vocals and is not as impressive as their recent full length. However, it is still a great and fresh listen.

As said before, but now with a minor date adjustment:
This Friday, April 17, Caddywhompus is to take part in Loyola's Battlefest '09 along with bands, Big Rock Candy Mountain, Dirty Bourbon River Show, Mojo Method, and New Grass Country Club.
We wouldn't normally take part in musical competition, but we do like Loyola kids.
Live From SugarHill Studios - Episode 4 from W. Ross Wells on Vimeo.
This is a live studio set from some two of our favorite H-town bands. Some really great songs performed in a studio that we are very fond of so check it out. We got a show coming up with Elaine on April 25 at Mango's.

Oh baby. The mash-up is finally complete.
But before you listen to the masterpiece (a shoe-in for the grammys this year), check out each artist.
MyNameIsJohnMichael is a New Orleans-based indie pop supergroup that is taking the world on, one heart at a time. They just released their first full-length album consisting of the (voted) top 13 songs out of the 52 John Michael wrote in 2008 (yes, that's a song a week). Check em out and check em out quick before they're too big for you to think it's cool.
Next we have Killa $al. We don't know much about Mr. $al except that he is apparently NY's Hardest. We're not even quite sure exactly in what aspect he is more stiff than everyone else in the Big Apple. But one thing's for certain: His macbook microphone tone is to die for and his sick flows are untouched by most rappers alive (and dead). Killa was even quoted in a song of his as saying, "Killa $al's the best rapper alive. PERIOD". Also, I learned you can't be his friend on Myspace without knowing his last name or his email. I tried entering "$al" as last name, but no go. He remains a mystery, and this unapproved use of his song just might be as illegal as his stolen beats.
